Hard Hearted Woman grew out of a shroud of icy baths, long swims in the river, late-night conversations with friends about art and politics, and long road trips through the rural landscape around Lillooet to visit her godmother. Along with her band and guests from both country and experimental music worlds, she recorded at David Parry (Loving) at Dream Club in Victoria, British Columbia, and in her studio in Nanaimo and remotely with Tom Deis. The result glows like something drawn from smoke and seawater - intimate, shimmering, and formed with as much wit as sorrow. It's a swirling, multicolored tribute to all angels and demons.
As a work marked by devotion to mystery, community, and the strange power of creating art in a divided world, Hard Hearted Woman is an album about hardness and resistance; it's the shell we develop to allow our most human and fragile selves to survive.

Prepare for a night with plenty of reality, introspection, and a smattering of nostalgia, all presented in a warm hug of timeless country-rock from Hisingen. In the fall, Bergslagsdiagonalen will hit the roads to spread the gospel of their new album: Lundby Lady. The album continues to draw from the two wells that never seem to run dry as inspiration: the two-ness and everyday life. The album offers self-biographical journeys through Sweden's union life, intermixed with the feeling of being too dull to be remembered and fears for the future. In Bergslagsdiagonalen's world, there are no effervescent descriptions of the dewy-eyed youngster's churning stomach. Here, love is rooted in the knowledge that the only thing that remains is the everyday, and that's what counts - holding tight to those who haven't given up, even after many long winters without either sun or snow.
