Pride and Prejudice

The acclaimed production Pride and Prejudice returns to Turteatern! After its successful premiere in 2021, the team invites you to a new round of their unique interpretation of Jane Austen's classic, with the teapot once again whistling on stage.

Conceived by Amanda Apetrea and Lisen Rosell, in collaboration with Daniel Åkerström Steen and Chrisander Brun, this bold and free reimagining of Austen's timeless novel challenges conventions with a production that breathes both respect for the original and a fresh, modern perspective.

Join us in a captivating, romantic yet tough world where boiling tea meets hazardous ink and feverish cheeks. The audience is plunged into a story of grand estates, sharp class disdain, tense under-starched corsets, and mysterious wetlands. Here, delicate china collides with heavy tea towels, contrasting with a harsh reality, a stark contrast that captures the heart of Austen's complex social portrayal.

The artist group, consisting of Nadja Hjorton, Amanda Apetrea, Lisen Rosell, Chrisander Brun, and Daniel Åkerström Steen, has honed a distinct theatrical language over a long period. Their work is characterized by a non-hierarchical process where text, body, space, light, mask, and costume collaborate to create unique scenic worlds. At the center of their storytelling lies desire, bodilyness, sexuality, humor, and direct contact with the audience. They take on well-known sources and transform them into something entirely their own, through collective research and a bold artistic vision.

Some members of this exceptional team have previously been seen in the praised Fäbodjäntan at Dramaten, and their previous successes include Grottbjörnens folk at Turteatern (2017). These productions demonstrate a consistent ability to create groundbreaking and memorable live art.
