Following the success of the 2021 production, Turteatern's acclaimed show 'Pride and Prejudice' returns to the stage, ready to warm the teacups and invite the audience to an unforgettable experience. Amanda Apetrea and Lisen Rosell, in collaboration with Daniel Åkerström Steen and Chrisander Brun, present their completely free interpretation of Jane Austen's timeless masterpiece.
The show drops you right into a warm, romantic world where steaming teacups meet hazardous ink and where feverish cheeks hide passionate secrets. Imagine grand estates, sharp class contempt, stiff breasts in tight cotton, and misty wetlands. In Turteatern's version of Austen's universe, the dirty daily life clashes with delicate china and heavy tea bags, in a timeless mix of desire and convention.
Behind this unique scenic experience stands a team that has refined their artistic expression over many years. They place desire, body, sexuality, humor, and direct contact with the audience at the center of their storytelling. Through collective exploration and non-hierarchical collaboration between text, movement, stage space, light, mask, and costume, they create distinct and living universes from well-known templates.
The core of the artist group consists of Nadja Hjorton, Amanda Apetrea, Lisen Rosell, Chrisander Brun, and Daniel Åkerström Steen, a collection of creators with a long and successful history of shared projects. Their previous acclaimed works include, among other things, "The Mountain Maiden" at the Dramaten (spring 2023) and "The Cave Bear's Folk" at Turteatern (2017).
