After a critically acclaimed premiere in 2021, the unique interpretation of Jane Austen's classic "Pride and Prejudice" returns to Turteatern. Get ready to warm up the teapot and dive into a world where the familiar meets the unexpected.

Directed by Amanda Apetrea and Lisen Rosell, in collaboration with scenographer and lighting designer Chrisander Brun and costume and mask designer Daniel Åkerström Steen, comes a bold and free version of Austen's timeless tale. This is not your grandmother's Austen, but a production that challenges and entertains.

Welcome to an immersive and passionate world filled with steaming tea, hazardous ink and flushed cheeks. Here grand estates meet biting class disdain, where heavy teabags rest beside delicate china and tight corsets press against strict cotton. Amidst murky wetlands and filthy hamlets, a picture of an Austen universe is painted – both recognizable and provocatively new.

The artist group behind "Pride and Prejudice" has spent many years polishing a theatrical language that puts desire, body, sexuality, humor and direct audience contact at its core. Through collective research and a non-hierarchical work between text, body, space, light, mask and costume, they create their own, living theatrical worlds based on well-known patterns.

The core group consists of Nadja Hjorton, Amanda Apetrea, Lisen Rosell, Chrisander Brun and Daniel Åkerström Steen, who have collaborated in various constellations over the years. Parts of the team were last seen in the award-winning "Fäbodjäntan" at Dramaten and have previously created notable works like "Grottbjörnens folk" at Turteatern (2017).
