Uppsala is one of Scandinavia's oldest and most historically rich cities. With one of Europe's oldest universities, a magnificent Gothic cathedral, and mysterious Viking mounds, Uppsala offers a journey through thousands of years of history.
Uppsala is only 40 minutes by train from Stockholm Central Station. Arlanda Airport is halfway between the cities, just 18 minutes away by train.
Valborg (April 30th) is the year's biggest event in Uppsala. It's celebrated with river rafting, the 'donning of the caps', and massive celebrations at student nations.
Most nations require a student ID for evening events, but during the day, many nation cafes are open to the public, offering the city's most affordable fika and lunch.
Late April (for Valborg) or the summer months when the city's parks and outdoor cafes are in full bloom. Winter is also beautiful, especially around the Cathedral.
