In a near future, two young girls are stuck in an asylum process. They fled a place not entirely unlike our own, but where democracy has fallen and war has taken over. Now, they wait for a decision that determines everything: can they stay or will they be deported from the country?
Through their stories, dreams, and conflicts, the girls grow closer to each other and a strong friendship emerges. As they wait for a decision, they try to hold on to something that resembles a life despite the uncertainty and fear growing around them. What do you do when you're not welcome anywhere?
'Bloody Parasites' is written by Ninna Tersman based on over a hundred in-depth interviews with individuals in different parts of the asylum process. Directed by Moa Silén, it becomes a raw, hopeful, funny, and moving performance about never letting go of the light, no matter how dark it gets.
The production is a co-production between Uppsala Stadsteater and Gottsunda Dans & Teater.
'Bloody Parasites' plays for school classes in grade 9, but will also run public performances on weekends.
The performance will be played at Gottsunda Dans & Teaters stage in Gottsunda.
